I am now currently involved with Ramsbottom Cricket Club who play in the Lancashire League. Having spoken to several Committee Members here I feel confident that the Club, and others around, would Welcome Clubs from other areas for either Pre-Season matches or those during an end of season tour. It is a falacy that it is always raining in Lancashire believe me. Some of the grounds here are magnificent with superb facilities. I am sure the Clubs concerned would put out a team equivalent to your standard especially in mid-week. Rammy's current Professional is Sunil Joshi (Raj would be interested to learn that!!!). Of course this a great area for League Cricket History and most clubs go back to the 1800's for their foundation. Many famous players have played in the League names such as Viv Richards(Rishton) Everton Weeks(Bacup), Ian Chappel(Ramsbottom) Dennis Lilley(Haslingden) and Richie Richardson(Accrington). This is an opportunity not many clubs would get and I am sure a lot could be learned by visiting the area. Although I am now nearing my 70th Birthday (in 2008 I will reach 50 years as an umpire and 60 years involvement in cricket) we are still learning new things about the game each day one is involved. The man who new everything never made any good!!!!!

Hi there and how are you. Andy it's about time this site was updated!! Sept. 2006 was a long time ago.

Just a few lines to let you know that we are settled in and doing well, in fact "good as gold" as they say.

Life here on the other side of the world is going just great, Mike and I are both working and meeting lots of new people, mind you, it will be a lot easier when we learn to speak Kiwi, no really, people are just great , so friendly and very helpful.

House has been decorated through out, garden still a jungle, but will get to that in time.

So have a great season, hope all goes well, will keep our eye on the site for the results,

Dee and Mike

Hi Guys,
Just to inform you that after 58 years of involvement in cricket as player, administrator, scorer and umpire(48 years) "My Time is Up". I have severed all my connections with Cricket except those with Vintage Cricket(4th Festival in Stratford-on-Avon in August 2008). This has been a long and hard decision but with a brand new GRANDSON, time is precious to spend it with the Family. Have had some wonderful memories and recently after the announcement was made have received some touching tributes capped I suppose by Frank Kemp at the ECB Office at Lord's thanking me for outstanding service to the game of cricket
Sincere Regards

Hi Guys that speak to me! Have settled in well "Oop North". Cricket wise am umpiring in the ECB Cheshire County Cricket League. Standard of play is excellent. From a football angle am doing a bit of "scouting" for Yeovil Town hence Anthony Barry from Accrington Stanley and possibly, shortly, Gary Roberts from the same Club. Have just become Grand Parents for the second time. This time around it is a BOY!!! Luke, Nathan. At birth he weighed in at a wopping 10 lbs 7ozs and now in just over twelve weeks has almost doubled his weight. He's going to be a big un, perhaps a Centre-Half and Opening Bat!!!!. The phone calls from Andy, stopped some time ago, no doubt a "committee decision!!!". Off to Barbados with Vintage Cricket in November for Third Carnival and will no doubt meet up with "Big Joel", who I met in Perth WA two years ago. He bowled from my end and returned figures of 3 Overs 3 Maidens 0 Runs 3 Wickets. Took himself off and fielded on the boundary throwing the ball in under arm right over the stumps or into the W/Keepers Glovers, slept under a tree during his teams batting, batted No 11 got 20 odd runs of eight balls before being out. A great bloke and can still play even at 50 odd. I see you guys still can't get into the West of England CL!!! Best of Luck for rest of season and if nothing else enjoy yur cricket.
